The Debod Temple is a construction you would never expect to find in Madrid.
This Egyptian temple, oriented from east to west and surrounded by water, was a present of Egypt to Spain, as a form of thanksgiving for the contribution given by the Spanish government to save the Nubia temples.
Dedicated to the cult of the Egyptian gods Amòn and Isis, the temple is more than 2200 years oldnd was once located in Debod, on the banks of the river Nile. The temple is made up of many rooms, the most important of which is the Relieves Chapel,, perfectly preserved in its original state, with relieves representing scenes of ritual acts.
Set in a wonderful context, with a superb view over Casa de Campo and the West Parkthe temple is very suggestive, especially at sunset.
