During the first thirty years of the XX century,Madrid became a city open to the world, pervaded by a great spirit of renovation. As a consequence of this spirit, the city underwent an intense construction activity, with the creation of new modern infrastructures..
The beautiful position of the building, situated on the corner between Alcalàand Gran Via,in the heart of the financial and commercial district, as well as its huge size and beauty, draw the attention of all people passing by, who stop to admire the fine Metròpolis.
7 houses had to be demolished in the area to make this mammoth building. Its architecture is elegant, eclectic and of exceptional proportions ,in particular the dome in black slate, with golden decorations and a gorgeous winged statue.
On the second floor a beautiful circular room was built, with Corinthian columns that provide support to a third floor, where there are statues representing commerce, agriculture, mines and industry.
